Job Description: Network EngineerDesigns and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network hardware and software interconnection and interface. Such as routers, Switches, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Typical Minimums: Bachelor’s degrees from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority. Required Proficient in: Cisco Routers/Switches, Extreme Switches, LAN/WAN/MAN Technologies, ATM, Ethernet, OSPF, BGP, RIP, EIGRP, HSRP, VLAN, Trunking, Spanning Tree, Wireless 802.11, Frame-relay, ISDN, Secure Modems, Encryptors, Check-point, WildPackets NX, Sniffer Pro, Fluke, Fiber and copper cabling. Desired Knowledge: Concord NetScout, Remedy, Vantive, OpenView, Spectrum, CiscoWorks, Windows 98/2000/NT/XP, Visio, MeetingMaker, Key Certification: CCIE, CCNP, CCDP, CCNA
