Description:
The US Geological Service in Sioux Falls, South Dakota is in search of an Enterprise Engineer that can identify computer engineering processes, do enterprise work and identify requirements and improvements. The work environment involves the storage, analysis, and dissemination of geological data, digital images, and spatial data. A background in any of these areas, or any experience with Earth Observation or Science Centers would make the client very, very happy.
Position Description for the Enterprise Engineer
The duties of the enterprise engineer:
The enterprise engineer is a key position and provides visionary and transformational insights into engineering next-generation data systems and supporting incremental change based on assessment of EROS mission forecasts and research into stakeholder requirements.
He or she identifies, analyzes, evaluates, recommends, plans, coordinates and integrates hardware/software enhancements that have the potential for improved resource use, cost-savings, improved performance, and decreased maintenance and risk for EROS data and business systems.
The EE identifies and develops/implements mitigation plans (in collaboration with the customer) to address governance issues and process hurdles that may impede the implementation of efficient and effective Enterprise-wide solutions.
The EE designs and facilitates the change management processes (including training and rollout) that support effective deployment of new capabilities and gathers and interprets metrics on effective implementation including benchmarking and user satisfaction.
The EE promotes solutions that are compliant with the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) Framework, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) principles, and FISMA guidelines. Makes recommendations to management
Lead responsibility for eliciting requirements from stakeholders (government, contract project managers, and product/service end-users) and communicating these requirements.
Provides analysis on performance, security, implementation and integration of applications into existing architectures.
Responsible for coordinating engineering efforts between hardware engineers, software engineers, systems engineers, business process analysts and management.
Organizes meetings to discuss findings with government and contractor management.
Coordinates reach-back to corporate capabilities within SSAI and its teammates to find unique technical expertise of value to the contract.
Participates in the Monthly Project Reviews.
Identifies unique engineering staffing requirements and works with the program recruiter to attract new senior engineering talent to the center.
The enterprise engineer reports to the Program Manager.
Educations and Experience Requirements:
M.S. in computer science, EE, or other related field
12 years of experience working with computer systems
At least 5 years of hands-on technical experience in hardware and software integration for high volume, 24/7 data processing related to the generation of high-quality, calibrated, scientific products from ground-station receipt to end user delivery.
FEA, SOA and FISMA experience highly desirable. Knowledge and implementation of storage, archive, and virtualization solutions for hardware and software systems used to process satellite and aerial remote sensing data is required.
You will have the opportunity after your first 1000 hours to work directly for one of the Global leaders in Government Contracting. The position will report directly to the Program Manager, and our client needs this candidate ASAP because the position is part of a task order that will be awarded in the late November-early December timeframe.
