Job Description: DBA-Database AdministratorReston, Herndon, VA Direct placement position Must be a U.S.citizen - high level clearance required Will participate as the DBA in a new project, small team environment, supporting the design, development and deployment of a corporate analysis system in a fast-paced, dynmaic environment. The DBA will also provide guidance and support to team members in the development of comprehensive and complex solution system. Work closely with PM, leverage existing IT infrastructure to balance short-term versus long-term actions, strategic versus tactical requirements. Responsible to design, architect, and implement enhancements related to a PostGres SQL database system. The requirement is a 6-month position at 40/hrs/week. This position will be required to carry a pager. This position may require overtime at times. Expert experience with PostGres SQL (or willingness to obtain necessary training) or other RDBMS with strong experience on backend processes and engineering. Experience in Linux or UNIX. Experience in RDBMS performance tuning (index, disk optimixation, etc). Experience in implementation and release of DB changes. Experience in RDBMS capacity planning Senior level administrator skills for databases from versions 10.2 thru 11.1. Experience with Oracle Data Guard. Experience with Oracle RMAN. Also with Performance tuning of Oracle databses, performing database upgrades, installing software, and patches. Experience with PL/SQL programming. Experience with Oracle Advanced Security Options (ASO). Basic administrator skills with Solaris 10. Excellent ability to troubleshoot by various methods. Ability to work outside the prime time business hours to support production issues and routine system deployments. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Optional Skills: Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain database instances; experience in replication, backup, partitioning, storage and access; ensuring availability of database enbironment; proactively monitoring database environment; provide trend analysis to management; data modeling with logical and physical design; documenting DB architecture; managing database secuirty; performing capacity planning, query optimization; architecting HA, DR and Failover database environment; solid skills on shell scripting, experience in stored procedures, implemenation experience with data modeling concept (relational and dimensional) and tools such as ErwinÔ
