Job Description: Job Responsibilities:GENERAL SUMMARY: We have an immediate need for a full-time team lead for a development group charged with building computing and communications infrastructure for an upcoming Satellite Calibration and Validation campaign. The selected individual must have previous experience with remote sensing and will provide support in the following areas: 1. Designing system architecture for computer systems. 2. Performing complex systems development and design work and computer architecture analysis and design. 3. Designing and developing systems modeling, simulation, and analysis. 4. Planning upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements. 5. Developing documentation on computer systems. 6. Developing and conducting simulation tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements for calibration and validation of satellites. 7. Determining system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. 8. Providing guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers. 9. Serving as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met, and providing presentations. 10. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. 11. Participate in special projects as required. Education/Equivalent: 1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience. 2. Masters degree in Engineering preferred. Experience Requires 10-15 years of related software development, along with project management experience using ‘agile' methodologies. Unique/Additional Requirements 1. Technical expertise in the development of environmental remote sensing data processing systems, scientific computer systems engineering. 2. Demonstrated experience with Linux, MySQL, Python, JAVA, C, C++ 3. Familiarity with postGIS, Geoserver, NASA Worldwind desirable. 4. Experience/knowledge of the 'X-Midas' data processing software environment desirable. 5. System infrastructure experience. 6.Calibration applications for weather and environmental observations. 7. Satellite systems development integration and operations calibration algorithms and satellite system architecture development. 8. Experience in environmental remote sensing algorithm development and validation. NOTE: ** US Cit required for NOAA clearance.
