Job Description: Business Objects EngineerImmediate Need Location, Herndon VA Long term assignment - multi year Arena Technical, LLC position. Perm Res or U.S. Citizen required The individual in this position will work on implementation of certain programs under the U.S. Department of the Treasury's ('Treasury') Making Home Affordable initiative. Code, test, and debug new software and make enhancements to existing software and systems to render their use more efficient. Using knowledge of systems engineering or computer programming, troubleshoot existing systems and streamline their operation. Maintain, patch, and program operating systems to allow applications running on them to function efficiently. May document standard operation of a system or technical measures taken or recommended to improve a system’s functionalities. -ÔMonitor operations of a network or an environment of servers on which a cluster of specific applications operate. Track and research business solutions running in this environment in terms of efficient performance or obstacles to smooth production. -ÔTroubleshoot difficult or complex production slowdowns or bottlenecks and determine what is causing the problem. -ÔDocument measures taken to patch or upgrade the system and testing done to ensure continued smooth production. -ÔMaintain or perform system upgrades, including installing up to date patches and service packs. Serve on or help lead larger projects involving team resources as a key technical resource. -ÔMay control or manage system access; train and support users and fellow team members. -ÔSupport system users, responding with limits of the 24/7 systems service level agreement. This includes device and configuration monitoring and support requests from users. -ÔMay provide work guidance or technical assistance to less senior staff. -ÔMay provide support for other areas of infrastructure. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION : BA/BS required REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS • Four or more years experience supporting versions of Business Objects and Crystal Enterprise • Six or more years of industry experience • Two or more years of Microsoft Windows and virtualization • Recent experience with Business Objects XI R3 and R2 to possess a solid understanding and working knowledge of the following tools and technologies: o Business Objects administration to include installation, configuring, patching, and user support o The Central Management Console and the Central Configuration Manger o Web Intelligence, Import Wizard and BIAR files o Designer o LDAP groups and role based security o Single Sign On and Siteminder o Administration of web servers to include IIS, Tomcat, and BEA Weblogic 9.x. o Auditor and the Business Objects Activity Universe o BO Clustering o BO performance tuning , troubleshooting, and system scaling • Oracle 10g and SQL • Experience with end user coaching and documentation • Excellent verbal communications and teaming skills • Must be prepared to carry a pager and support during occasional off-hours NICE to HAVE SKILLS • Familiarity of Business Objects SDKs and JAVA or .net development • Experience developing WEBI reports and Universes • Experience with UNIX and shell scripting • Familiarity with Autosys
