Job Description: Job Title: HP Network Monitoring and Management Tools EngineerLocation: Quantico, VA This position is located on the Quantico Marine Corps Base near Stafford, VA. Clearance Required: Secret Clearance Job Description: Responsible for requirements definition, design, implementation, configuration, and tuning of HP monitoring and discovery solutions in a highly complex, distributed computing environment.Key assignments include: • Baseline and become highly familiar with assigned regional computing environments and existing monitoring, event management, and discovery solutions. • Serve in the role of technical subject matter expert, refining existing functional requirements for monitoring and event management tools and participating in the development of an integrated monitoring/event management tooling strategy and architecture. • Work with client stakeholders to determine monitoring thresholds and targets in alignment with service level targets. • Work with client stakeholders to develop event filtering and correlation criteria and rules. • Install and configure solutions. • Administer and operate solutions and effect hand-off of operational responsibilities to customer staff members. • Partner with Incident Management teams to design and implement integrations between Event Management (HP) and Incident Management (BMC Remedy) tools. • Participate in the development and documentation of relevant procedures (e.g. operation, administration and support of tools). • Participate in the identification of training requirements. Provide SME input into the development of training curriculums and materials. May deliver technical training to customer staff members. • Identify process and tool testing requirements. Develop test cases and plans. Develop action plans to correct testing anomalies and execute remediation. Experience Requirements: • 10+ years experience working in a mission critical data center or network operations center, monitoring and security environment • Working knowledge of the following toolsets: HP Operations Manager, HP Site Scope, HP Performance Manager, Network Node Manager (NNM) • 3+ years hands-on experience installing, configuring, administering and tuning at least 2 of the following solutions: HP Operations Manager, HP Site Scope, HP Performance Manager, or Network Node Manager (NNM) • HP Certified Systems Administrator (CSA) in one or more of the relevant HP solutions is desired • Scripting experience a plus (Windows Batch file, VBScript, Perl, and Unix Shell) • 3+ years consulting experience • Excellent technical documentation experience - writing samples are required • Extensive knowledge of networking, application, system and database monitoring tools • A thorough understanding of network technologies and security • Experience with BMC and HP monitoring/management solutions integrated in a BMC Remedy 7x environment • Must have a DoD Secret Clearance or be able to obtain one • HP Accredited Integration Specialist (AIS) Certification(s), HP Accredited Systems Engineer (ASE) Certification(s), HP Certified Systems Engineer (CSE) Certification(s) in one or more of the relevant HP solutions is desired • EMC Smarts and/or SolarWinds experience • Experience participating in large, global, multi-tool, multi-platform enterprise monitoring implementation/integration projects • Military or DoD experience • ITIL V3 Foundations certification • ITIL V3 Service Operations or Operational Support and Analysis certification • Security+ Certification Education Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
