Job Description:

We are seeking a Requirements Solutions Architect for a full time position in Alexandria, VA.

Basic Function: Responsible for requirements analysis, functional and technical system design, solution recommendation, verification activities, quality assurance, client training and ongoing customer support activities.

Job Summary Statement:
Requirements Solutions Architect leads requirements analysis, functional and technical design, and all client needs definition and verification activities for web-based systems.

Responsibilities include translating client’s business needs to the development team and providing functional expertise for the developers on the solution.

Responsibilities also include analyzing and dissecting complex web systems, and determining workable, feasible integration solutions.

Additional responsibilities include testing and quality assurance activities, as well as documentation and training on web-based systems.

The Requirements Solutions Architect will have responsibilities in all phases of the development life cycle including: collecting business requirements and translating into UI components and functional specifications, identifying and accommodating typical usage scenarios, defining information architecture based on functionalities inherent to content management systems, mapping data relationships and process flows, writing functional specifications and quality assurance documentation, performing aesthetic, functional, and cross-browser testing, supporting implementation, and establishing a level of trust with customers that he/she is able to recommend the most appropriate solution for the problem at hand within given budgetary constraints.

The Requirements Solutions Architect becomes the subject matter expert across multiple projects and areas for clients. Requirements Solutions Architect takes a holistic approach to examining the clients, artifacts, processes, and documentation to improve repeatable processes for all phases of the lifecycle.

The Requirements Solutions Architect may also assist the sales team as needed by providing visual aids for proposals to help demonstrate domain knowledge relevant to prospective customers.


Responsibilities:
1ÔSolving business needs for clients through the process of identifying and analyzing requirements and modeling appropriate technical solutions.
2ÔUnderstanding complex organizational workflows and systems integrations, and eveloping workable solutions that are feasible within time and budget constraints.
Gathering requirements through client and user interviews and ongoing communications.
4ÔCreating functional and technical system analysis and design documentation in line with existing standards and practices.
5ÔWorking closely with developers to help facilitate understanding and reduce the gap between end user requirements and actionable, workable development tasks.
6ÔPerfecting artifacts, tools, templates and approaches to work throughout the project life cycle and documenting for re-use on new project.
7. ÔUsing information gained through market and technology research to resolve issues, improve solutions, and suggest enhancements for clients pro-actively.
8. ÔProvide training, facilitation, and mentoring to clients specific to the solution implemented as well in the methodology and best practices for solution development.
9. ÔPreparing and delivering end user and technical documentation as appropriate.
10. ÔExecuting functional test scripts, creating test plans, and documenting/tracking results.
11. ÔAssisting with the enforcement of the quality on the systems the client delivers.
12. ÔPerform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. ÔMust possess at least 7 years of IT project experience.
2. ÔMust possess at least 4 years of experience with business analyst responsibilities.
3. ÔRequires a comprehensive knowledge of the principles and concepts of web-based software development.
4. ÔExperience dissecting complex systems and recommending workable solutions within given constraints.
5. ÔExperience conveying system design and project domain concepts through UML or other modeling techniques.
6. ÔRequires an understanding of advanced Internet technologies.

7. ÔMust be able to illustrate information architecture and user interface mechanisms to facilitate client understanding and manage customer expectations
8. ÔMust have experience with facilitating client interaction.
9. ÔMust have experience developing requirements, information architecture, and use cases.
10. ÔKnowledge of life cycle processes to include planning, analysis, design, testing, etc.
11. ÔExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
12. ÔRequires proven ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
13. ÔRequires strong communication (verbal and written) skills with team members and clients.
14. ÔCandidate must have the proven ability to manage time while working on a variety of tasks.
15. ÔPossess an interest in learning new technologies and practices when applicable.
16. ÔPossess a willingness and attitude to help customers find workable solutions.

Desired Skills:
1. ÔUnderstanding and experience with iterative application development including Agile development methodologies such as Extreme Programming (XP), and/or phased iterative methodology such as the Rational Unified Process (RUP).
2. ÔKnowledge of full life cycle development processes or CMMI is helpful.
3. ÔExperience documenting "as is" and "to be" processes.
4. ÔExperience leading client facilitation and system design sessions.
5. ÔExperience with development/harvesting of business rules and design of applications.
6. ÔExperience with complex, multi-faceted web systems.
7. ÔExperience leading and facilitating training sessions is a plus.
8. ÔExperience providing direct customer support is a plus.
9. ÔUnderstanding and experience with online publishing, open government, non-profit or advocacy business practices is a plus.
10. ÔKnowledge of web-based solutions including data driven websites/portals, web services, content management systems (CMS), contact relationship management (CRM), e-commerce (EC), membership management and online community solutions.
11. ÔIT Development and/or consulting background strongly desired.
