Job Description: Job Title: Consulting EngineerLocation: Herndon, VA Clearance Required: Secret Clearance Job Description: The Consulting Engineer candidate will be directly supporting the following: ·Meets with customers to assist in defining their requirements ·Explains the technology and standards of the Data Center (Cisco Devices, EMC Storage, Backup Solutions (Symantec NetBackup, Tivioli Storage Manager, and EMC Networker), Windows 2003/2008, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Oracle 10g/11g, SQL 2005/2007, IBM AIX, HP UX, etc., to the customer ·Manages day-to-day project activities. ·Leads project teams comprised of personnel from HP Enterprise Services, client organization, and/or third-party supplier organizations. ·Applies strong business skills and methodologies to lead a team in the implementation of solutions to meet a client's needs and migrates information technology infrastructures into the Data Center. ·Manages the project by establishing the requirements, directing the technical team in the design of the solution and delivering the results to the client. ·Ensures client satisfaction and overall quality of services delivered. ·Develops and delivers presentations to project teams and client management. ·Identifies sales growth opportunities and provides experiential knowledge during the development of cost models, risk management and solutions design. ·Evaluates new technologies for suitability in the Data Center ·Reviews statements of work (SOWs) to ensure they manage the project to the scope of work. ·Conducts capacity planning for the Data Center ·Author documentation that includes detailed design specifications, requirement traceability matrix, and Visio diagrams. ·Develop policies and procedures to address common technology issues ·Interacts with other IT and project teams; may interact with external vendors including Hardware and Software vendors ·Provides Technical leadership to the Engineering Team and for the project managers Experience Requirements: Qualifications: ·Working knowledge of a System Development Lifecycle methodology ·Excellent oral and written communication skills. ·Experience in 2-3 technical disciplines Hardware HP, Dell, Sun, IBM Servers EMC Clariion-CX4, Symmetric-DMX-4 Cisco 6500 Switches, Nexus 5000 and 7000 Switches HP c7000 Enclosure with Virtual Connect – Flex 10 Cisco Intrusion Detection Systems/Intrusion Prevention Systems IBM Mainframe z10 Operating System Experience: Unix Systems (Linux, Solaris, Sun/OS, AIX, HP/UX,), Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008, RHEL 5.4 Database Experience: Oracle 10g/11g Administration, Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 Administration. Added plus: IBM DB2 Administration, MySQL Administration, Sybase Administration, dBase Administration. Application/Tools HP Data Center Automation Center / Network Automation Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010 Active Directory Fidelis XPS Citrix XenApp Enterprise Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification a plus Project Management Program (PMP) Certification is a plus Education Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering
