Job Description: Job Title: Principal Systems EngineerLocation: Quantico, VA Clearance Required: Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) Job Description: Our Client has an opening for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer in Quantico, VA. Provides functional guidance and direction in LAN administration hardware and software technical support analysis operating systems configuration communications and network systems analysis configuration management systems analysis data security analysis software quality analysis office automation network operations Expertise: Windows 2003 Server Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) Microsoft Exchange HP SiteScope Microsoft Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) Microsoft Systems Center Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition networking. Experience shall include comprehensive end user support in network design, hardware/software selection, integration, inter/intra network data communications, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. Designs, analyzes, plans, and modifies network components supporting communication implementation activities. Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods. Candidate may prepare the analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching and routing. Candidate will demonstrate expertise in alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities. Support for local and remote staff computing and telecom issues, which require more in-depth technical knowledge, experience, and research. The candidate will be responsible for providing highly specialized IT services and necessary support documentation. The candidate shall provide expert technical and analytical services to accomplish comprehensive support defined within the scope of the task. The candidate will review completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and make recommendations to management and/or customer. The candidate will plan and direct upgrades of operating systems and design system enhancements as required. Development of documentation on new or existing systems is required, and the candidate may develop and direct tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements. Identify, analyze, and resolve system problems. Provide system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance. Determine system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility as needed. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned, participating in special projects as required. The degree of involvement of the candidate will vary ranging from supplementing existing resources to providing total core technical support. T ask includes the identification, documentation, management, and configuration of VMware environment. Responsible for assisting in network and server engineering, design, configuration management, and day-to-day operational support to manage servers that support USMC maintained applications, project, and initiatives that support the USMC enterprise. Experience Requirements: 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience. ITIL Foundations certification and MCSE preferred. Education Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering
