Description:
Federal Financial Management professionals identify, assess, analyze and mitigate some of the most significant accounting risks of Federal Government agencies. The risks will be financial, operational and compliance-based in nature; however, project work takes on numerous forms. Project work may include involvement with internal control reviews, risk assessments, business process mapping projects, or financial statement audits of Federal Government agencies - limited to controls-focused support work. OMB circular A-123 experience is needed.
Clearance TS/SCI required, Poly required after beginning work.
Position/Program Requirements: Some knowledge of public accounting audit practices and procedures. Some knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States (U.S. GAAP), United States Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (U.S. GAAS) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) standards.
Some experience demonstrating technical knowledge of GAAP; applying applicable auditing standings in completing audit areas; some experience preparing a record of work that provides a clear understanding of audit procedures.
Knowledge Preferred: Considerable knowledge advising federal organizations on improving efficiency and effectiveness related to financial management, federal budgeting, internal/external reporting requirements and federal laws and regulations.
Considerable knowledge in at least one of the following focus areas: grants management, federal reporting requirements, federal laws and regulations related to financial management (FFMIA, FMFIA), federal financial IT systems and requirements .
Considerable functional knowledge of business intelligence and performance management software tools.
Skills Preferred: Considerable experience and the ability to analyze detailed finance and accounting processes to identify improvement opportunities. Ability to simplify complex processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency to meet federal requirements.
Demonstrated experience as a team leader: creating a positive environment by monitoring workloads of the team while meeting client expectations and respecting the work-life quality of team members; providing candid, meaningful feedback in a timely manner; and keeping leadership informed of progress and issues.
Considerable knowledge of federal financial accounting standards, and regulations such as FFMIA, FMFIA are preferred.
Years of Experience Needed: 1 to 8 years experience only This is a Junior to Mid-level role.
Minimum Degree(s) and Certification(s) Required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting or Finance required. Masters of Business Administration preferred.
Desired certifications and areas of interest: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) OR Certified Government Financial Manager OR (CGFM), OR Certified Management Accountant (CMA) OR Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification preferred.
