Job Description: Job Title: Network & Security Support EngineerLocation: Patuxent River, MD Clearance Requirement: Will take an interim Secret Clearance to get started Job Description: This position is for a Sr. Systems Engineer to support the 7.2 DCIO Chief Technologist (CT). This position assists the CT in devising the IT framework, technology procedures and practices of an organization. The CT's team set up the policies and structures for managing the underlying IT infrastructure, which comprises all of the organization's computers, servers, computer peripherals, telecommunication systems, Internet connectivity networks, software applications, and data centers. The CT's team aligns the IT vision with the overall business strategy of the organization.Job Requirements:The position duties include, but not limited to:1. Representing the DCIO Chief Technologist on specific projects/programs (PMA's, echelon II sites, etc). This task may include:a. Assisting programs in gathering required information for such as network diagrams, data flow, UTNPP/PPS Cal compliance, boundary, CTNPP boundary, and FAM software requirements. b. Assisting programs in compiling official listing of external connectivity including external location, ports, protocols, and applications, & data communications flow. c. Review and comment on presentations/diagrams from programs and system owners.d. Assist IT system owners in diagramming "TO-BE" approved solutions to include transition to NMCI network, consolidation into virtual servers, incorporate systems into NAVAL portals, etc.e. Review Port Opening Requests and verify start/end dates are still current and in compliance with UTNPP/PPS Cal2. Works closely with NMCI Points of Contact, NAVAIR Commands, and NAVAIR Operationsto define and deliver new products and enhancements within the confines of DON/DOD policies.3. Assists the CT in developing and tracking the operating and capital budgets for IT purchasing and operations as it relates to IT Spend Plans. 4. Manages and optimizes infrastructure assets to satisfy Organizational targets 5. Identifies, compares, recommends, and implements technology solutions to meet current and future needs of NAVAIR Commands.6. Knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques.7. Schedule and facilitate meetings or Video Teleconferencing with customers to gather and document their requirements. 8. Record, track and work action items from various meetings, e-mails and other discussions.9. Review and prepare C&A Plan documentation with system owners. Update all databases for tracking all C&A Plans and submittal status.10. Develop architectural diagrams of approved solutions using Visio software.11. Work as an Information Assurance Officer on system documentation, architecture, C&A Plan development, Interim Authority To Test (IATT), Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM's), and document submittal process. 12. Prepare project and management level briefs outlining System Architectures, Networking solutions, Security policies, etc.13. Develop and execute Network and Sever Transition Plans from various NAVAIR sites to the Patuxent River NAVAIR Data Center and/or NMCI enclave.14. Track and report on status of all IT systems assigned to the team.15. Assist CT in developing/architecting approved DOD/DON solutions to reduce IT assets.16. Maintain NAVAIR White List entries. Experience Requirements: 8-10 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design or equivalency.Experience in using Microsoft Products to include: PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Excel, and Project.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Successful in fast paced and quick changing environments. Proven knowledge and experience in networking, systems architecture, design and development. Education Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
