Job Description: Oracle Database Administrator6 month+ contract Location: Silver Spring, MD Background check required -This position will be an important part of the data center deployment and consolidation, data warehouse redesign and reloading projects. -The duties will involve schema objects creation and maintenance, ETL development support , database space management, database backup and restore, and Oracle CPU installation. -The candidate must demonstrate strong skills in administering large Oracle database systems, hands-on experience in managing database backup using RMAN, and proficient in SQL/PLSQL. -Experiences in Red Hat Enterprise Linux are highly desirable. -The candidate must be an excellent team-player, willing to share knowledge and experiences, able to communicate and work equally well with technical staff and business users. -The candidate needs to be a self-starter, attentive to detail, and enjoy a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Responsibilities: * Creating and maintaining tables, indexes, synonyms and other schema objects * Developing and maintaining SQL/PLSQL scripts and stored procedures * Troubleshooting data loading processes * Performing data migration * Managing database tablespaces * Managing database instances and Oracle listeners * Developing and executing database backup solutions * Installing Oracle Critical Patch Updates * Creating and maintaining database administration REQUIREMENTS: * BS in Computer Science or Information Systems or other related fields * 2+years experience as a full-time Oracle database administrator * 7+ Years total technical experience * Experience in supporting data warehousing projects * Experience in scripting using SQL/PLSQL * Experience in performing backup and restore using RMAN * Knowledge of ETL processes * Excellent communication and presentation skills desirable HARDWARE/SOFTWARE EXPOSURES: * Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition * Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2, X86-64 * Symantec (Veritas) NetBackup 6.5 * Informatica Powercenter 8.6 * EMC CLARiiON CX4 Series Storage * Dell PowerEdge Servers
