Our client is in need of a 508 Subject Matter Expert to perform the work described below:
1)Meet with the project team to clarify the scope of work and timelines.
2)Review current 508 remediation procedures to become familiar with the Centerís requirements and priorities.
3)Utilize Netcentric Common Look 508 remediation tool to identify 508 violations and remediate documents.
4)Receive PDF documents from FDA by email or other document transfer system, remediate documents according to requirements.
5)Provide completed testing data for all remediated content, utilizing remediation tool that is used for this project (see item 3 in this list for more information).
6)Ensure 100% compliance with FDA specifications for all documents.
7)Check remediated documents against original document to ensure that formatting and content are retained.
8)Return documents to FDA by email or document transfer system within a 1 week turnaround period unless otherwise specified.
9)Submit monthly report with invoice including how many documents were remediated, how many pages were remediated, the time spent remediating each document, and the cost for each document during the time period covered by the invoice.
Document remediation should include (but may not be limited to):
a. Text Tags: A text equivalent for every non-text element shall be provided (e.g., via "alt", "longdesc", or in element content).
b. Multimedia Presentations: Equivalent alternatives for any multimedia presentation shall be synchronized with the presentation.
c. Color: Web pages shall be designed so that all information conveyed with color is also available without color, for example from context or markup.
d. Readability (Style Sheets): Documents shall be organized so they are readable without requiring an associated style sheet.
e. Data Table: Row and column headers shall be identified for data tables.
f. Data Table: Markup shall be used to associate data cells and header cells for data tables that have two or more logical levels of rows or column headers.
g. Flicker Rate for multimedia presentations: Pages shall be designed to avoid causing the screen to flicker with a frequency greater than 2 Hz and lower than 55 Hz.
h. Text-Only Alternative: A text-only page, with equivalent information or functionality, shall be provided to make a web site comply with the provisions of these standards, when compliance cannot be accomplished in any other way. The content of the text-only page shall be updated whenever the primary page changes.
i. Applets and Plug-Ins: When a web page requires that an applet, plug-in or other application be present on the client system to interpret page content, the page must provide a link to a plug-in or applet that complies with ß1194.21(a) through (l).
j. Electronic Forms :When electronic forms are designed to be completed on-line, the form shall allow people using assistive technology to access the information, field elements, and functionality required for completion and submission of the form, including all directions and cues.
k. Navigation Links: A method shall be provided that permits users to skip repetitive navigation links.
l. Time Delays: When a timed response is required, the user shall be alerted and given sufficient time to indicate more time is required.
m. Sans Serif Font: Ensure that all documents use only sans serif fonts.
